Local Cacao Industry

The mission and goal of the Kona Cacao Association is to promote the cacao industry on the Big Island of Hawaii by presenting the Big Island Chocolate Festival as an educational and outreach opportunity for local cacao farmers, the hospitality industry and cacao enthusiasts.

Beyond creating, implementing and promoting the Big Island Chocolate Festival, the Kona Cacao Association will work with cacao growers, producers, chocolate enthusiasts and chefs to help create a recognizable brand for Hawaii Island Chocolate.

We will work together towards creating a structure to maintain the quality of cacao grown, marketed and shipped from Hawaii for the future growth of this fledging industry. By joining together, KCA members can create opportunities that will help everyone involved in the cacao industry on the Big Island of Hawaii.

The Future of Cacao

Farsheed Bonakdar, president of the Kona Cacao Association and owner of The Cocao Outlet said,  “There’s a huge demand for Hawaii chocolate — even Jacques Torres came and saw the beans and said we have really something great going on here."

Seeking Event Management for 2018 - Proposals Being Accepted

The Kona Cacao Association is currently seeking to hire an event manager to encompass both event coordination and promotion for the upcoming Big Island Chocolate Festival being held on April 2018 at the Hapuna Beach Hotel on the Kohala Coast.  This is a 600-800 person event, with multiple moving pieces. We are seeking a highly logistical seasoned event planner.
